Accommodation Statement:
Individuals requiring accommodation in order
to access programs and services involving
the General Educational Development certificate
program should make their needs known to the
adult education program director, ADA Coordinator,
Equal Opportunity Officer, or Affirmative
Action Officer c/o the Office of Superintendent
of Schools for the school system in which
the adult education program resides.

Adult Basic Education:
GED
Adults prepare for and obtain State of Maine High
School Equivalency by passing a five-part exam covering
English, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Literature
and the Arts.
| GED FINAL TESTING | |
| Students who successfully completed the GED Preparation module are eligible to take the GED final tests. Students must complete all subject area tests with both a minimal passing score on each test as well as an overall passing average for the entire battery of tests in order to obtain a GED. Testing is by appointment and arranged through the main office. |

| GED PREPARATION | |
| This 3 week preparatory modue provides students with the state required standardized assessment tesing, pre-GED testing in all subject areas and some tutoring. Students must meet or exceed the minimal passing scores on the pre-GED test in order to qualify to take the regular GED tests. Students experiencing difficulty with the subject matter are eligible for support thorugh ABE basic skills classes and tutoring. |

| GED TUTORING | |
| Students may access tutorial services for assistance in completing the GED. Students access the tutorial for as long as is needed for success. |
