Accommodation Statement:
Individuals requiring accommodation in order
to access programs and services involving
the General Educational Development certificate
program should make their needs known to the
adult education program director, ADA Coordinator,
Equal Opportunity Officer, or Affirmative
Action Officer c/o the Office of Superintendent
of Schools for the school system in which
the adult education program resides.

Adult
Basic Education:
Adult Basic Education
View Courses
Offers individualized and small group instruction
in reading, writing, spelling, math, science, history,
and life skills. ABE Home Tutors are available for
those who cannot attend classes on a regular basis.
High
School Diploma
View Courses
Adults earn high school diploma credits by taking
academic and vocational courses according to a diploma
plan consisting of 45 class hours per credit.
GED
View Courses
Adults prepare for and obtain State of Maine High
School Equivalency by passing a five-part exam covering
English, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Literature
and the Arts.
ESL
English as a Second Language (ESOL) offers tutoring
to students whose native language is not English.
A+NYWHERE
Belfast
Adult and Community Education is now offering a
computer based high school diploma program to students
through its new A+ Learning System. This program
is an option for those students who are competent
in computer operations and can work independently
with some supervision. Contact the main office for
information about the program.
